Moodle Administrator Training

We currently run intensive one and two-day training courses for staff who have the responsibility for administering their moodle installation and keeping it going. This is a live course, run at your site, for a maximum of three people (any more and it becomes impossible to cover the topics in the time available). All of the topics covered relate to admin tasks *within* Moodle itself, such as system variables, initial category and course setup, user administration, the basics of Moodle themes, installation and removal of modules and blocks, and system logging and reporting, and the course does not cover lower-level server administration such as database and web setups. The course includes a hands-on element.

The one day course covers a condensed and cut-down list of topics, with all essentials covered. The two-day course expands on that to cover all aspects of moodle administration.

Both one and two day courses cost £600 + expenses (travelling and hotel, if required) + VAT per day.

Because of the increase in administrator functions that have come about with the introduction of Moodle Version 1.8.x and 1.9.x, it is no longer possible to cover all Moodle Administration in a single day. If you wish to book such a course with us we now ask you to let us have a list in advance of the topics that you are particularly interested in, and we will then prepare the training accordingly.

Alternatively, you can book multiple training days, and we will then structure the course to cover all of the relevant administration areas.

Server-side training, to do with the setting up and tuning of web and database servers and the installation of Moodle itself is not covered in the standard Administrator courses. if you wish to cover this, please let us know and we will put together a hybrid course for you.

Teacher / Course Creator Training

We have now started delivering training for Teachers and other staff that have the responsibility of creating course content and activities. This course (one day for the basics, a second day to cover more in-depth material) costs the same as our Administrator Training Courses listed above, and can be for up to four people. You can add up to four additional teachers at a cost of £100 per person per day. These courses are also delivered at your premises, using your own moodle if available, so that the environment being worked on is as familiar as possible.

A more in-depth technical training course (now under development by the Moodle Partners around the world) will cover all of the subjects that an effective Moodle administrator should know. Held partly on-line and partly live hands-on, this course is intended to produce a highly competent Moodle Admin that has a thorough grasp of all of the technical issues relating to Moodle including server hardware, operating system and application software installation and tuning, server housekeeping, Moodle technical setup and configuration, and many other topics.

The Moodle Service Network Partners are currently discussing the possibility of an official Moodle Administrator Certification authorised by The Moodle Trust, and this course would count as a major preparation for that qualification. As this is still very much under discussion and development, no costs are yet available.
